Maxing out everything on ultra settings, I presume? Tymvaul is doing that because his PC is a sexy hunk of a man. I'm getting a solid 60FPS on mediumn, and I'm fine with that.

Alright, my life isn't as pimpin' as Ice Cube's, but that song summarises the general feel of my life right now.
I don't think I could release my joy without writing several pages of rambling, so I'll restrict this to bullet points.
• I'm going to the Somme as part of a school trip. THE SOMME, MAN. THE RIVER SOMME, NEAR AGINCOURT, IN PICARDY. Where 1.5 million people lost their life!
• I saw a double rainbow today. It was easily the most aesthetically pleasing thing I've ever viewed.
• I'll be on Blue Peter. Y'know, the show that hands out these awesome badges for appearing?

Just look at it. I know this won't mean much to you oversexed, undertaxed yanks, but this is a symbol of pride to an entire nation.
There's a list of things I want to do with my life, and it goes like this:

1. Break the Guinness World Record for "longest Police standoff with a videogame peripheral" (10 hours- this was in Brazil)
2. Earn a Blue Peter badge
3. Colonise a small island in the Atlantic in the name of the British Empire
4. Publish my writings

See where my priorities lie? Now all I need to do is to decide which is deadlier: a SEGA Light Phaser, or a Guitar Hero 3 controller.

^^ At first I had the sensativity jacked to max. I don't play FPS that much. I was like an ADD Kid Flash haha.

So what is this Blue Peter?

Okay, so, here's a basic synopsis of what happened this week:

On Tuesday, I went to a Super 8 Bit Brothers concert on campus, where I danced in front of the whole crowd with this very pretty girl.

I also had some home-made gumbo from legitimate Cajuns. AND IT WAS FUCKING DELICIOUS

Then I stayed up to four and three on school nights FOR NO REASON. That wasn't smart.

Yesterday, I had a fun snuggle party, where we all ended up spooning (it's really only as awkward as you make it) and had shirtless pillow fights (unfortunately, only guys) played gay chicken.
Apparently, I'm really good at gay chicken.
My gay friend had to go take a cold shower after that.

And then, just tonight, I watched Phantom of the Opera with some people. After it was done, we sat in the lobby signing the songs over and over again for a while.

And that's what college life is like!

Man, I know Merc is known for his sudden and extended absences but... it's been like five months since he last popped up. It's like he dropped off the face of the Earth.

But obviously, he's going to emerge in a shower of burning promethium carried in a chariot by stampeding horses. There'll be red arrows flying across a cloudless sky, and throngs of dirty faced peasants forum-goers will stop and stare on their knees, humbled by the return of their god and master. And there shall be a party, from sun up to sun down, one such as never seen before, with extra awkward drunk intercourse and terrible party music to make up for all the aforementioned acts we missed out on while the ruler of all was missing from our lives! Aren't you excited, Moonlight? Without Merc, our lives are meaningless and devoid of joy!

Though really, let's forget he ever existed. That way his trimumphant return will be all the more surprising! Plus, spectacles are much more impressive when you have no idea what's going on. Look at Star Ocean, and Tetsuo the Iron Man! Did you understand what was going on? I certainly didn't, and I was all the more enthralled by it.

Right, now what have I been doing? I was inducted into the Tribes: Ascend beta, and my novel writing goes well. My relationships with tangible human beings go poorly, but that might be because I'm too edgy and cool for emotions and feelings. Because I'm still not convinced venting everything I feel into a forum thread is a good idea, that's more or less all you're getting. I can add that I'm impressed by how well my friends seem to take one for the team on my behalf.

Wow... I've been gone for a while, haven't I? Fortunately, I haven't gone the way of Merc. I'm still here. Anyway, It's good to be back. Been very busy with schoolwork and college stuff. Btw, I'll be going to college with MTP next year. I got accepted to the same university and intend to sign up after I get a scholarship offer.

You got in! Hell yeah, dude!
*high five*
It's fuckin' awesome.
Oh, and apply for housing right fucking now. No, seriously. Right fucking now. GO. I'll wait.
You definitely want to live on campus. There's so much shit to do! And you make so many new friends! You don't wanna get left out in the cold.
I dunno if our new residence hall will be done by the time you get here, but Res Hall South is where all the cool kids are.

I'll find out about my colleges within the next few months. I'm hopeing for University of South Florida, but I need an Air Force Scholarship to go there out of state. If not USF, then I'll shoot for University of Georgia, my homestate uni.

I'm thinking that this place needs some life. I have a laidback RP idea on the burner with minimum DM involvement. It'll take the form after Galaxy Quest, but in a fantasy setting where the characters ar Cosplayers at a ComiCon who are portal'd to a realm on the brink of death from Mr. Evil Overlord Guy. It'll have the same plot that most every generic fantasy has, with characters as generic and Mary Sue as you want to fit the setting. God characters, bu those cliche ones that show up everywhere like the orphan farmboy his the son of a dead king and the feminism empowerment elf chick and the crotchety wizard who knows all but tells moot dude.

Anyone interested?

Oh boy, that'd be fun. I shotgun the beast race with the terrible costume and name with a lot of Zs.

So, my life. I've decided not to pressure myself to finish my writing in a month, as I don't need to. Why put limits on myself if I already have enough trouble getting out good quality material? I can see the appeal of a NaNoWriMo, but it's not for me. I could likely do it, but not if it's something I care a whole lot about.

So I have the baisica sign-ups all drawn out. I think I'll launch it over the break, with sign-ups opening a week or so before hand. I'll go drag Moony and Vorg and Muffo and Hawk over from SSLF so they see it.

Dp whatever.

I've decided to launch this RP over on The Lair, as Hawk pointed out, this forum is pretty well dead.

Harrow, I've emailed Scorp to see if he'll let you back in for the RP (maybe permanantly) which I think he will if he's being honest when he talks about how he's always forgiving of banned members and all that. Hell, he let Dan Faraday and Joker (Idk if he was ever banned though but I know he got in serious trouble posting porn and now he's a Mod lolwhut?) back in after what they did.

I've pestered him about it recently while we were adventuring in the frozen, bug-mired wastes of Bethsoft's latest award-bait. He's not a particularly difficult rock to shift, and he mentioned the reasons for banning me being "trivial". I want to thank you and a few others for posting on my profile with words of greeting at around the time of my Birthday. I only noticed them now as I haven't checked my profile in a year.

As for my own life? Oh, why in Bhaal's throne do fools fall in love? What a mess a recent event turned out to be. But still, it's Christmas, I don't have exams, I'm alive, I'm not in poverty, the Steam sale isn't far away, there's literally billions of lasses I haven't got a horrible reputation with, and the world isn't as horrible as my usual cynicism makes it out to be.

Also: what's Merc's blog? I feel as though I don't stalk him enough.

Post  Grombrindal Mon Feb 06, 2012 2:04 am

Wow. Uh. Sure is dusty in here. And dark. Should really get some new lightbulbs or something.

Maybe a news post will lure you out of the shadows. I've finished my first year of uni, studying a double degree in Law and Creative and Professional Writing, which might seem an odd combination but hey - 90% of lawyering is about creating fantasies, right? Managed to pass everything, which I'm thankful for. I've also been a bit more active on SSLF and I'm running a realtime RPG over the net with the Dark Heresy ruleset (it's Warhammer 40k but the players all work for the Inquisition). The system works nicely, and I'm pretty happy with most of the players and characters. I'm tempted to run a similar thing here with a different setting (maybe Pathfinder? DnD?), but timezones could be hard to coordinate and my weekends are already kinda full.

So in lieu of that: Would anyone be interested in a semi-active RP on here? Something light with a revolving door policy for players, maybe. Something to kick up some life, given a few of you guys aren't very active on SSLF. Not sure what the setting would be, but I did like the idea put forward about nerdy actors thrown into a fantasy world. Could be fun to try out, anyway.

I hope someone actually reads this. I'd hate to be trapped here alone forever...

You mean my Galaxy Quest-esque idea? I had a plot nailed down at one point, if you want to take it over be my guest, I could hop in as a co-DM if you want...

I'm always down for activity on this place.
I feel like I haven't narrated my life in a while...
I'm in college. The days kind of blur together, especially since I don't get as much sleep as I did in high school. But that's totally fine; no one ever wishes they slept more in college.

Don't tell me you guys started that RP without me. Sorry I haven't been on. I just thought this place was dead. I also went and found another forum to frequent. If you guys would like to join, we just discuss general nerd stuff and have a group on Steam to play multiplayer games with. We focus on Free-2-Play games, so download a few and come join us if you haven't already. Here's a link to the site that the forum is attached to. Come join! It'll be fun!

Post  The Magic Tuba Pixie Sat Mar 24, 2012 9:53 am

(and almost a month later, I still haven't given up.)

Sorry, this is jut too awesome not to share.
So, my campus has a flash mob group that I'm part of. It's called Onomatopoeia, and it's a whole lot of fun. Thursday was "Pokémon Day" across campus. We had Gym Leaders set up across campus, with a schedule of when and where they would be. Our president (of Onomatopoeia) was wandering around campus all day and handing out Trainer cards so people could run around and get "badges" (stamps with the respective Kanto badges on them). However, you can't have Pokémon without Team Rocket. A good friend of mine and I had the privilege of being Jesse and James.

A Study on the Feats of a Man - Three Mile Island Edition - Page 23 535231_3315241236365_1128217038_33246121_424605103_n

(This isn't my complete costume; I had the gloves and everything, but I like this picture the best.)

As members of Team Rocket, we got to run around and yell at people and generally be obnoxious. It was our job to recruit Pokémon Trainers to Team Rocket (we even had our own stamp!). We offered them candy, and if the Trainers had a red R on their Trainer card, they could no longer advance to the Elite Four.
We got some really great reactions, and it was a lot of fun. We interrupted three college tours; it was kind of fantastic.

And then I saw The Hunger Games at a prescreening. It was enjoyable; I didn't like the books (I hate present tense so much), but I liked the movie.
But Pokémon Day was more fun.
